Version 0.8  |  BuildRoot  |  opkg  |  x86-64

News

NEW! Version 0.8 released — the first public one.

NEW! The image now ships the osl-install installer and the osl-tools utility set. See the Handbook.

Quick facts

Base: BuildRoot
Platform: PC (x86-64)
Packages: opkg
Installer: osl-install (CLI)

Repository

Open Small Linux ships with the opkg package manager built in. However, let's be honest about the current state:

Version 0.8 has no repository. There is no /etc/opkg.conf, no feed is configured, and the package database is empty — opkg is present and ready, but there is nothing to install from yet.

The official repository will be maintained by Foundry Technologies. When it launches, it will work with the built-in opkg as usual.

WhatStatus

Official repository (Foundry)In preparation
Foundry software packagesNot published yet
Third-party packagesNot published yet

What works today: installing a package from a local .ipk file:

opkg install ./some-package.ipk

Once the official feed exists, the usual workflow will be:

opkg update
opkg search <keyword>
opkg install <package_name>
opkg list-installed
